Fichtelberg Railway steam trains run several times a day between Cranzhal and the spa town of Oberwiesenthal. The Fichtelberg Railway Adventure Trail runs mostly parallel to it, and those who like to be active can choose to explore the entire route or just part of it.
The Fichtelberg Railway Adventure Trail combines nature, technology and culture in the Ore Mountains in a particularly charming way. The trail begins in the village of Cranzahl, where a visit to the small but lovingly designed Museum of Incense Burners is highly recommended. A real highlight for lovers of Ore Mountain folk art.
The trail runs parallel to the Fichtelberg Railway and leads through vast fields, meadows, and shady forests, accompanied by the whistling and puffing of the steam locomotive. With a little luck, you can see it up close in several places. It is also an ideal opportunity for taking photos.
Along the way, several shelters, panoramic viewpoints, and rest areas offer opportunities to relax, always with a view of the railway line and the rolling hills of the Ore Mountains. The hike ends in the spa town of Oberwiesenthal, Germany's highest town. Here, in addition to the historic Fichtelberg train station, you will find cozy restaurants and other attractions.
