Fichtelbergbahn as a Strong Partner of EURORANDO 2026
When hiking enthusiasts from all over Europe gather in the Ore Mountains in September 2026, they shouldn’t miss one of the event’s greatest highlights—a ride on the historic Fichtelberg Railway (Fichtelbergbahn). This unique narrow-gauge railway is a key partner of EURORANDO 2026. Through its marketing activities, it supports the promotion of the event and helps ensure that people far beyond the region’s borders learn about this exceptional occasion.
The Fichtelberg Railway is also an integral part of the program itself. The “Bimmelbahn” (Little Train) adventure trail, which runs along the railroad tracks between Cranzahl and the Oberwiesenthal spa, offers a unique tourist experience that combines physical activity, scenic views, and the romance of the railroad. The historic railroad line thus becomes a tangible part of EURORANDO.
A special schedule will be in effect throughout the week of the event, from September 20 to 27, 2026. Regular service will be increased, in part through the use of a diesel locomotive. The Fichtelberg Railway will thus increase its transport capacity and offer visitors a unique opportunity to enjoy the journey to Germany’s highest-altitude town in the comfort and unique atmosphere of a historic railway.
Following the opening ceremony on September 20, 2026, visitors can look forward to a special experience—an evening ride on a historic steam train. At 8:00 p.m., the train will depart from Oberwiesenthal Spa for Cranzahl, arriving there at 8:55 p.m. The return trip departs at 9:10 p.m. and arrives back at Oberwiesenthal Spa at 10:05 p.m.
The highlight of the program will be an evening ride on a historic train under the moonlight on September 26, 2026. The Fichtelberg Railway invites visitors to an extraordinary experience that combines a romantic train ride with a guided evening hike, a pleasant get-together, and the magical atmosphere of the Ore Mountains at night.
