The Ore Mountains divide into two halves, the shape resembles a sword stuck in the ground, and there are countless beautiful features and attractions in this area – this is Bezruč Valley, where we will go on a relaxing trip.
We will start at the Third Mill. We can park our car here or at the nearby Second Mill, where there is also a restaurant. We will gradually climb up the Kamenička Valley to the dam of the Kamenička reservoir. From here, we will have a beautiful view. All around are beech forests with their intricate beauty.
Above the reservoir are wild rocks that will tower above us as we climb to the ridge of the Ore Mountains. We will reach the Old and New Ponds – gems hidden in forests and peat bogs. We will find ourselves on the edge of the largest and deepest peat bog in the Ore Mountains.
We will descend back to Bezruč Valley via Hadinec Hill and visit the unique Bear Waterfall. We will climb up the opposite slope of Bezruč Valley to the abandoned settlement of Menhartice, which offers a magnificent view of the entire valley complex above Chomutov. We will descend along the Křimov reservoir back to the Third Mill.
