A challenging hike in the Moldava area immerses us in the forgotten beauty of the eastern Ore Mountains. You won't find another valley like this in the Ore Mountains.
We will set off from Bouřňák, home to the steepest slopes in the Ore Mountains with magnificent views below the mountains. Beech, spruce, and dwarf pine trees grow here, making it difficult to estimate the altitude. Bouřňák is home to beautifully photogenic twisted beech trees.
From there, we will head towards the train station in Nové Město. The route leads through a forgotten picturesque valley full of cottages belonging to contented vacationers. We will continue through the forest, past the abandoned settlement of Vápenice, to the famous train station in Moldava. This enormous building is a reminder of the former hustle and bustle that prevailed here in the first half of the 20th century. Here you can relax, shop, and set off to explore the unique valley of Dolní Moldava.
We will pass through Sklářská huť, whose name refers to the ancient tradition of glassmaking. But now we are standing on the edge of the valley itself, which is incomparable in its shape and its beautiful meadows. We will walk around it from the north to the Nad Moldavou hill and descend into the valley. We will pass the Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary, which looks like something out of an old movie. We will walk along a picturesque meadow path towards the abandoned village of Pastviny. Along the way, take a good look around and enjoy the surrounding views and meadows. It is a miracle.
From Pastviny, we will continue through the Grünwald peat bogs back to Nové Město and Bouřňák. It's quite a trip!
