Eurorando will be connected to Deutscher Wandertag 2026
In 2026, the Erzgebirge will host an exceptional combination of two major tourist events
The Deutsche Wanderverband has decided that the 123rd Deutscher Wandertag (German Hiking Day) will take place from 24 to 27 September 2026 in Oberwiesenthal, bringing the event back to the Ore Mountains after 13 years. What's more, it will take place at the same time as our Eurorando 2026 festival, which starts on 20 September 2026.
The two events will thus be closely linked, making the region a European hub for hiking in autumn 2026 without exaggeration.
The aim of linking the Eurorando 2026 and Deutscher Wandertag 2026 festivals is to strengthen cooperation between European tourist organisations and to highlight the role of the Ore Mountains as a region that connects the Czech Republic and Germany.
What is Deutscher Wandertag
For more than 140 years, the Deutscher Wandertag (German Hiking Day) has been an annual gathering of hiking enthusiasts from all over Germany. It regularly attracts tens of thousands of people to the countryside and combines movement with culture and interpersonal relations.
The programme offers a wide range of guided hikes of all levels of difficulty, thematic walks dedicated to nature, history and mining, as well as concerts, regional markets and expert conferences.
More information about the event can be found on the official website of the German Tourist Board:
