The festival will connect Czechia and Saxony in the heart of Europe
In September 2026, the Ore Mountains will host one of Europe's most important tourist events – EURORANDO 2026. The international hiking festival will take place from September 20 to 27, 2026, connecting the Czech and Saxon parts of the mountain range.
Preparations for the event are in full swing and the program is gradually taking shape. Participants can look forward to organized day trips, themed guided tours, an accompanying cultural program, and special offers for registered guests. The festival will also include the grand opening of the new Stoneman Miriquidi Hike long-distance trail.
Presentations at trade fairs in Germany and the Czech Republic
The project was successfully presented at the CMT Stuttgart travel fair at the beginning of the year, where the Saxon side introduced it to the general public. The Czech part of the organizing team is now preparing for the Holiday World & Region World fair in Prague (March 12–14, 2026), where EURORANDO 2026 will be presented to domestic visitors and the professional public.
"EURORANDO is an exceptional opportunity to showcase the Ore Mountains as an attractive cross-border destination for hiking. Together with our Saxon partners, we want to offer a high-quality program and at the same time strengthen long-term cooperation in the region," said Štěpán Javůrek, director of the Ore Mountains Destination Agency. Among other things, the festival attracts visitors with the region's mining history. Thanks to its mineral wealth, the Ore Mountains have been inscribed on the UNESCO list. The organizers plan to create a heart-shaped gabion network on the border between Boží Dar and Oberwiesenthal, where each participant will be able to throw in a stone from their place of residence. The stone heart of Europe will remain here as a permanent reminder of this international event.
Rabenberg and accompanying program
As part of the festival week, a themed tourism festival will also take place in Rabenberg (September 22, 2026), offering presentations of outdoor brands, regional producers, and tourist destinations. The program will be complemented by themed walks and live demonstrations.
The organizers are also preparing a system of benefits for holders of participant badges, which will allow them to attend organized events, use shuttle buses, and take advantage of partner discounts in the region. We are reaching out to partners and service providers with the following offer: anyone who provides event participants with a discount or free gift (e.g., a discount on admission or a free drink with a meal, etc.) will be listed on our website, making them more visible to EURORANDO festival participants.
Registration from February 2026
Registration for individual tours will open at the end of February 2026 via the official website www.eurorando2026.eu, where up-to-date information about the program, accommodation, and transportation will be published gradually.

Public discussion of the project
On Monday, March 16, at 5 p.m., we are organizing a public discussion of the project at the Běhounek Hotel in Jáchymov, where representatives of DAK will present the concept, scope, and details of the festival. The event will also include a discussion during which the director of the agency, Štěpán Javůrek, his deputy, Jan Kerner, and Zdeňka Šrédlová, representing the EURORANDO 2026 organizing committee, will answer questions from participants. The discussion is open to everyone, and no prior registration is required.
The project "Tourism in the Ore Mountains in the Heart of Europe – EURORANDO 2026" is supported by the Interreg Czechia–Saxony 2021–2027 cross-border cooperation program and is co-financed by the European Union.
