From Schlettau Castle to Scheibenberg and the organ, along the region's long-distance hiking trails.
The hike begins at Schlettau Castle – a place steeped in history that invites you to stop and reflect. From here, the trail leads along the Zschopautal Trail out into nature. With a view of the gentle hills of the Ore Mountains, you will reach Walthersdorf. At the sports field, it is worth taking a detour to the Rosenbusch silver mine. You will finally leave Walthersdorf via the old Scheibenberg road, and the trail will lead you through forests and meadows towards Scheibenberg.
At the foot of the impressive basalt mountain, you will encounter the European long-distance hiking trails E3 and EB. Follow this trail to the left to the hiking hut with its impressive view of the Fichtelberg mountain – a picturesque place to rest. Continue along the Ottomara-Zahn stone path to the summit with its mountain inn and striking observation tower. On the descent, you will pass ski jumps and impressive basalt columns (also known as organ pipes).
The return route follows the well-known EB and E3 long-distance hiking trails. The route leads back to the starting point at the castle via forest paths, along railway lines, and past idyllic rest areas—with a touch of the Ore Mountains' charm.
