With more than 30 stops along the 13.7 km long mining trail, there are numerous opportunities to explore the beautiful Greifensteine area.
This nature trail is circular and starts at the Ehrenfriedersdorf Tin Mine on Sauberg hill. Here is one of the Purple Path artworks created for the year when Chemnitz became European Capital of Culture 2025. From here the trail continues to the industrial park and then along the old narrow gauge railway to the Greifenbach valley. It follows the Röhrgraben stream to Greifenbach reservoir. Along the way, there are numerous remains of old mining works, such as mine entrances and ruins of blast furnaces. The ascent to the Greifensteine viewpoint offers panoramic views of the Ore Mountains. The Albin Langer trail then leads to Ehrenfriedersdorf, from where the old mining trail "Lange Gasse" returns to Sauberg hill.
