This impressive circular hike begins in the historic square of the small mountain town of Wolkenstein. Not far from the imposing castle, which towers picturesquely above the Zschopau Valley, the trail leads downhill along the EB long-distance hiking trail. Finally, the trail turns right into the impressive rock labyrinth of the Wolkenstein Switzerland region. There, the first highlight awaits hikers: from the Brückenklippe (Bridge Cliff) – a spectacular viewing platform – there is a breathtaking view of two bridges over the Zschopau River. The elegant stone arch bridge and the impressive railway bridge are popular photo subjects.

The trail continues to Anton-Günther-Höhe (Anton Günther Heights). This idyllic resting place offers a beautiful view of the Wolkenstein panorama. From here, forest paths lead downhill to the traditional Warmbad spa area. At the drinking pavilion, you can enjoy soothing thermal water while your children have fun at the nearby water playground.

Behind the spa park, another chapter begins: the historic mining area. On picturesque trails with sometimes whimsical names such as Palma and Nebe, hikers will discover, among other things, a brick-lined mine shaft, a silent witness to the region's long mining history.

Heading south, now on the European long-distance hiking trail E3, endless panoramic views of the Annaberg mountains open up. At high altitudes, hikers traverse the steep, rugged slopes of the Zschopau Valley. Zeisigstein, a prominent viewpoint, is located approximately 100 meters above the confluence of the Zschopau and Preßnitz rivers.

A beautiful forest path leads downhill past small rock formations, accompanied by the Zschopau River. The grand finale is a romantic climb up the Wolfsschlucht (Wolf Gorge). A narrow trail winds its way up through the castle rock to the starting point in Wolkenstein.
