18 🇨🇿 | The longest Czech Stations of the Cross and the most beautiful views

From the square in front of St. Martin’s Church, you can see the historic landmark of the entire Nejdec region—the so-called Black Tower, which has guarded the path through the valley since the 14th century, along which miners flocked to the lucrative tin deposits. From the church, we’ll head across the square, lined with shops, toward Křížový vrch, where the famous Way of the Cross begins. A gentle climb will take you all the way to the summit with its metal statue of Christ. We continue uphill along the ridge path toward the Krušnohorský Semmering railway line, which we will cross via Ovčí Bridge. After a short rest, the final uphill stretch awaits us, leading all the way to the famous Pajndl Lookout Tower. This extraordinary structure was built in 1897 and became a cultural monument in 1997. The view from the lookout tower is truly spectacular. It’s a great place to relax, and you can already look forward to the return trip to the town of Nejdek—it’s all downhill from here. There are no refreshments at the lookout tower, but in Tisová there is the renowned Kukačka restaurant where you can sit and relax. From here, you’ll walk for a while along a quiet paved road to the former Krásná vyhlídka hotel, from where you’ll descend steeply along a forest path back to the town square. Along the way, you can admire the iconic black rock with a tower.
