19 🇨🇿 | Stories of the lost village of Přísečnice

The starting point is the parking lot in Kryštofovy Hamry, a small village in the valley of the Přísečnice stream. There is also a bus stop nearby on the Chomutov-Výsluní-Vejprty line.

We set off along a paved road upstream along the Přísečnice River until we reach the dam of the waterworks of the same name. We won't stay long at the dam with drinking water and continue along the forest path. Soon we will join a paved cycle path, which will take us along the contour line to Karlova studánka (Charles' Spring). Here we will rest, recharge our batteries, and if the spring is not dry, we can refresh ourselves with the good local water.

We turn off the asphalt trail here and slowly climb 200 meters up a forest path to the summit of Jelení hora. Along the way, we can observe exceptionally well-preserved beech forests and listen to the silence of the forest.

At 994 meters above sea level, the summit of Jelení hora (Deer Mountain) towers over the deep valleys. On a sunny day, the view of the Přísečnice Reservoir and the surrounding area is breathtaking. After a picnic, we continue on our way. On the northern slope of Jelení hora, we pass the Prameniště Chomutovky Nature Reserve, which features numerous peat bogs. If the weather is favorable and we have enough energy, we’ll make it all the way to Mnišská skála (Monk's Rock), which offers not only a view of the reservoir but also of the endless expanses of forest all around. We descend along forest paths to Kryštofovy Hamry. Passing St. Christopher’s Church and the snack bar at Umanutá koza, we reach the end of our trip.
