39 🇩🇪 | Forest trails and views of the water in Carlsfeld

Nestled in the peaceful forests of the western Ore Mountains lies Weitersglashütte, a sleepy village that invites you on a circular hike surrounded by nature. From the starting point, the trail first leads through the village back to the access road. At the edge of the forest, the trail crosses “Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland” ridge trail, a long-established hiking route, where you now turn left.

The trail leads idyllically along the edge of the forest until it finally winds its way into the woods. Enchanting paths overgrown with roots lead downhill—partly through shady spruce forests, partly along open forest edges. Two small bridges cross quietly babbling brooks before you reach a wide forest path. Here, a picturesque resting place awaits you: a rustic log cabin with artistically carved elements, surrounded by comfortable seating. The ideal place to relax.

The trail now crosses a stream and climbs gently along the edge of the forest on rustic, root-strewn paths. With each step, the view opens up on the right, revealing vast meadows and rolling hills. Soon, Carlsfeld comes into view with its beautiful church nestled in the valley below. The striking viewpoint (hard to miss) is the ideal place for a short stop and to take the perfect souvenir photo.

After crossing the ski slope, the trail leaves the ridge path and heads left along wider forest roads toward the Carlsfeld Dam. Its calm, clear water and dense forest remind one of Canada. The trail continues across the impressive dam, offering views of the water and the forest—a truly unique experience. Finally, well-maintained forest paths lead you back to the starting point at the Weitersglashütte.
