Forest hike on both sides of the border. A challenging hike with natural surroundings and a unique cross-border experience, ideal for experienced hikers.
This approximately 16-kilometer circular hike begins at the Rittersgrün outdoor swimming pool. First, hikers are treated to a magnificent view of the idyllic mountain village before entering the shady Ore Mountains forest. Shortly thereafter, they cross the border into the Czech Republic for the first time.
The trail then leads steadily uphill through dense forest to the Segen Gottes Stolln mine and on to the historic Johannes-Stolln mine. Both are silent witnesses to the mining history of the Ore Mountains.
In Tellerhäuser, you cross the border again, this time back into Germany. Be sure to stop at the carefully designed fairy-tale resting place for dwarves, "Zwergentreff." From here, the view opens up again, revealing a remote village. Here, the trail connects to the Ore Mountains-Vogtland Ridge Trail “Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland”, which now leads downhill through the forest, accompanied by the quiet murmur of a stream.
Another beautifully designed rest area awaits at Wettinplatz before the trail passes Himmelsstein. From there, it is only a short distance back to the starting point at the Rittersgrün swimming pool – a trail full of impressions, tranquility and stories from the region between two countries.
